It’s that time of year. Time to set goals for the new year and start living our best life.

Most of the time we start in the right direction toward our goals, but after the first month or two we start to feel overwhelmed and unmotivated. This can be frustrating making it harder to get back on track.

So, what’s the best way to set goals and commit to following though, no matter what?

This week I want to share 6 tips for setting goals and staying motivated so you WILL achieve your goals.

We will talk about why it is key to find your why and to continue to revisit your goals on a regular basis.  

 

 

6 steps to help you stay motivated toward your goals:

1 - Define your why

What is your purpose for wanting to reach a specific goal? Are you looking for a second stream of income so you’re able to build a healthy retirement? Do you want to have the option to quit your job early or do you just need some extra cash to pay off bills?

·        Moment of decision

·        Visualize

·        Affords clarity - you cannot find success unless you define it first

2 - State your goals clearly and frequently

Make a list of smaller goals that align with your big goal.

·        Create yearly, monthly, weekly, and daily goals

·        Short term goals feed into your larger goal

 3 - Do the next 3 things

Read a book, work out early, create a gratitude list. Whatever the next 3 steps are to keep you on track toward your goals, focus on these.

·        Don’t overwhelm yourself with a long list

·        Keep moving forward

·        Be consistent with improvement

 

4- Focus on the current activity, not the outcome

Consider which activities will or will not bring you closer to your goal.

·        Stay attentive on the present activity- the smaller goals

·        Knowledge & routine creates confidence

5- Be Consistent

·        Find a support network to help keep you on track (like- minded friends, professionals)

·        Surround yourself with positive people

·        Recognize milestones

6- Commit to an outcome, not a timeline

·        Set deadlines for short-term goals

·        Be flexible with your deadlines

·        Keep going no matter what
